The PS4.5/NEO Appears To Be Real, Specs Reveled

According to GiantBomb, the upgraded PlayStation 4.5 aka now as the “PlayStation NEO” will contain a a higher clock speed, improved GPU, and higher memory bandwidth. The console will also support 4K image output. The site reports that starting in October, games released for the PlayStation 4 must ship with a “Base Mode” for the current model and a “NEO Mode” for the upgraded model, while games released previous to October can opt to take advantage of the new hardware with a patch. As expect games with run better on the upgraded console with higher visual fidelity and a more stable frame rate. Here are the exact specs provided to GiantBomb:
It seems that Sony has no intention of splitting its user base with the upgraded system as both consoles will share the same store and interface. There will also be no NEO only games. This begs the question why release this console at all ? I believe that the main reason for Sony doing this has to do with PlayStation VR. Those are my thoughts, what are yours ?
