Blizzard Announces Free Items For Overwatch 2 Players After Messy Launch

Blizzard's long-awaited Overwatch 2 launch didn't go as planned. For a few days, the servers were subjected to an aggressive distributed denial-of-service assault, preventing users from joining matches and other activities, and several players realized that their progress and character unlocks from the original game had not been moved across. These difficulties have generally been resolved, and Blizzard claims that they have mostly stabilized the game and are working to repair or improve bugs that players have encountered. To make up for the troubles that Overwatch 2 players had at launch, the following will be provided:

• All players who log in from October 25 through to the end of Season One will receive an all-new Cursed Captain Reaper Legendary skin and a Health Pack Weapon Charm.
• Blizzard is planning to run several Double Match XP weekends. Specific dates for those will be revealed soon.
