My Top 5 Games Of 2015

Before I begin with my Top 5 I’d like to point out that this list is based on my opinion and I’m just giving my thoughts on games that I really enjoyed this year.

5. Splatoon

Nintendo’s take on a 3rd person shooter is definitely something special and provides a “fresh” take on a genre that at times can seem a little stale. From the moment Splatoon was announced at E3 2014 I knew the game would be something special. Guns are ink plasters, bullets are ink and kids turn into squids. Splatoon was definitely a fun game in 2015 and is a great reason to own a Wii U.

4. Rocket League

A game that came out of nowhere and was a big surprise to many of us, playing soccer as a tiny car couldn’t be more fun. When you initially hear someone describe Rocket League to you, you think to yourself, no way that’s any fun. Then you pick up the controller and have a hard time putting it down. If you haven’t tired Rocket League yet, you should definitely give it a try.

3. Call of Duty: Black Ops III

Some will agree with me when I say that Call of Duty: Black Ops III is the best Call of Duty we’ve seen is quite some time. Whether it’s Campaign, Multiplayer, Nightmares, FreeRun or Zombies, Black Ops III always has something to keep you busy. Regardless of your what mode you prefer to play, Black Ops III has a game mode for everyone.

2. Rock Band 4

The #2 spot was a tough pick for me, as it was Rock Band VS Guitar Hero. I was going to pick both for the #2 spot, but I felt that, that would’ve been a cop out. But I don’t want this to be a rant about why I didn’t chose Guitar Hero Live. If you want to know why then just ask me in the comment section. The reason I chose Rock Band 4 is because it made something old new again in my eyes. People like to complain about the setlist of the game, but to me if you have some DLC the the setlist can be over looked. With a new look, new guitar freestyle solos and new and improved instruments, there are plenty of things to enjoy about Rock Band 4. As a guy who loves rhythm games, Rock Band 4 hits the nail on the hand and reminds me why I love the series so much.

1. Life Is Strange

Life Is Strange….where do I even begin with this game. From the moment you start the game it intrigues you with its narrative and art style. As episodes go on you think to yourself what is this game and what kind of story are they trying to tell ? Then by the end of the game it will all make sense to you. I really don’t want to talk too much about the game, because I want the game to speak for itself on how incredible it is. All I will say about the game is that it’s one hell of a rollercoaster and makes you think in ways you might haven’t thought before. If you haven’t played Life Is Strange yet then at least give episode 1 a chance.

Whelp, those are my Top 5 Games of 2015. Here’s to an amazing 2016. It’s looking to be another amazing year for games, with Final Fantasy VII Remake, Horizon Zero Dawn, PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift, Dead Island 2, Ratchet & Clank just to name a few exciting things. I’d like to give a “few” honorable mentions to some games that didn’t make the list but still enjoyed.
