PS2 Emulation Is Coming To PS4

The rumors are true as Sony has confirmed that they are working on bring PlayStation 2 emulation to the PlayStation 4. A Sony representative recently told the WIRED the following statement, ”We are working on utilizing PS2 emulation technology to bring PS2 games forward to the current generation," "We have nothing further to comment at this point in time." Bonus content included in the Star Wars Battlefront PlayStation 4 bundle (Super Star Wars, Star Wars: Racer Revenge, Star Wars: Jedi Starfight, and Star Wars: Bounty Hunter) appear to be running on proprietary emulation software. The PS4 emulator will mimic the original software of the PlayStation 2, enabling you to run PS2 games. It’s unknown if will be able to use PS2-based discs on a PS4, or if the emulation will allow us to play purchased PS2 titles from the PSN. Regardless this is exciting news for PS4 users.
